What Happens When You Miss Your Injectable Appointment?

With businesses shut down due to the COVID-19 emergency, many of us have missed our regular maintenance appointments for Botox, Juvederm fillers, and more medical aesthetics treatments. This might leave you wondering, what will happen to my face after missing a treatment? The answer varies across treatments, but luckily the effects of missing a couple of med spa appointments are minimal and can be reversed as soon as you’re back in the office. Let our experts at Fresh Medical Aesthetics answer all your questions & concerns!

I Missed My Botox!

Botox works to freeze muscle contractions in the face that cause wrinkles with movement. This means it is used to treat wrinkles such as smile lines, frown lines, forehead wrinkles, crows feet, and more. Botox starts to wear off after approximately 3 months. You may notice the affected muscles begin to contract more as your Botox wears off. This may mean the return of wrinkles upon movement, but they will not be any worse than before your original procedure. As long as you book your next Botox appointment in the near future, the muscle contractions should not cause permanent damage in the form of resting wrinkles, and should be able to return to your desired state

I Missed My Fillers!

Fillers are injectables used to add volume to areas of the face. This includes plumping the cheeks, lips, or filling in wrinkles in various areas including nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and smokers lines. Fillers can also be used as a non-surgical chin augmentation or to reshape the entire jawline! As your fillers wear off, you will notice that the area will lose its shape & volume. If let go of long enough, your face will return to its original shape. Luckily it takes fillers anywhere from 6-24 months to wear off, so as long as you make an appointment soon after your med spa reopens, you should be able to restore volume just fine!

I Missed My Facial!

Fresh Medical Aesthetics offers many skin treatments aside from injectables, including medical-grade chemical peels and Dermalinfusion Diamond Glow facials. If you regularly receive these treatments or are in the middle of a course of peels and have missed your appointment, there is no need to worry as long as you continue to take care of your skin. Make sure you are applying SPF and using medical-grade skincare products to wash, exfoliate, and moisturize. This should keep your skin as clear as possible and prevent any further sun damage or aging until you can resume your treatments.
